Nick Norman Signs Publishing Deal with Fourward Music and
Lee Brice’s New Cock Crows Publishing
Inaugural Artist on Pump House Records (Founded and Run By Lee Brice, Rob Hatch, Elisha Hoffman, Derek and Kristi Hutchins) To Unveil New Album Fall 2020

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 6, 2020) — Southern songwriter Nick Norman continues to build his first-rate team with a publishing deal with Fourward Music/Cock Crows Publishing.

The signing comes on the heels of Nick’s coronation as the first artist signed to newly-launched Pump House Records — a unique label and artist development collective founded and run by country star (and Nick’s childhood friend) Lee Brice, award-winning songwriter Rob Hatch, acclaimed producer/songwriter/engineer Elisha Hoffman, and business executives Derek and Kristi Hutchins.

“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. With a support group that’s second to none, I am confident this is just the beginning,” Nick shares. “These songs are my story and my message — to deliver them alongside a few of my best friends and mentors is an added bonus.”

Fourward Music is quickly becoming known for its ability to “see around corners” and sign the music business’s next great talent. Shannan Hatch leads the Nashville team and, due to her 20+ year experience in music, she knows how to serve artists and songs.

“Will [Ward] and I have had our eyes on Nick and we’re thrilled to be his publishing partner,” says Shannan, Fourward Music president. “He’s a prolific writer whose songs connect because he writes from a place of honesty and transparency. His songs grab your heart and make you move, because they come from a genuine place. We’re looking forward to a great future together.”

Adds Lee, “I’ve known Nick since we were kids and I’ve always believed in him so starting a publishing imprint to support his dream was a no-brainer and an honor. Now, Nick, let’s watch you fly.”

A South Carolina native, Nick relocated to Key West, Florida in 2005, where his unique mix of southern storytelling and Muscle Shoals-worthy grooves (along with his first-rate songwriting and spellbinding vocals) quickly earned a wildly-dedicated following.

Formed in 2019 with the goal of transforming Nick’s self-made success into a national, widespread movement, Pump House Records will debut Nick’s solo record this fall.

Co-produced by Pump House’s Lee, Rob, and Elisha, the album introduces Nick’s unique brand of American roots music, that’s simultaneously contemporary and boldly old-school. Members of the Pump House team helped co-write several songs, as did high-profile songwriters like Steve Moakler, Cary Barlowe, Will Weatherly, and Kyle Jacobs. The collaborative theme continues when it comes to guest vocalists, too, with features by Jamey Johnson, Josh Abbott, and Rebecca Lynn Howard.

Pump House Records’ emphasis on teamwork and camaraderie dates back to Norman’s childhood, when he attended church camp with another aspiring artist: Lee Brice. The two set up a makeshift recording studio in a shed behind the church, where they recorded gospel music and laid the foundation for a long, collaborative career.

For Lee, watching his childhood friend bloom has been a blessing. “He’s always had a passion for singing,” says Lee of Nick, “but after moving to Key West and singing multiple hours a day, six days a week, for more than a decade, he’s at a whole new level. His stuff is so soulful and so groovy.”

Written, recorded, and released by a group of creative, like-minded friends, the forthcoming album is more than Nick’s best work to date — it’s also a tribute to the raw magic that occurs when a diverse group of artists, songwriters, and innovators combine their talents. Better still, it’s a reminder that in today’s individualized world, a great song — delivered with conviction and collaboration — can still bring people together.

About Nick Norman:
A show-stopping vocalist and sharp songwriter, Nick Norman brings humor, heart, southern storytelling, and soulful swagger to the country genre. It’s a sound that began taking shape in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, where Nick grew up listening to a soundtrack of home state heroes — including Edwin McCain and Hootie & the Blowfish — and icons like Stevie Wonder and The Band. He soaked it all up, mixing the rootsy sounds of the FM dial with the awe-inspiring power of the gospel singers he’d hear every Sunday morning at the local church.

A lifelong friend and collaborator of country star Lee Brice, Nick began recording songs as a teenager, working inside a makeshift studio that he constructed with Lee in the pump house of a local church camp. He later moved south to Key West, where he established himself as one of the area’s strongest draws. Even so, it was his newest album that brought him back to Nashville, where Nick recorded a batch of raw, rootsy songs — including several tracks co-written with his childhood friend, Lee — in Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Studio. Produced by Lee Brice, Rob Hatch, and Elisha Hoffman, Nick Norman isn’t just Nick’s strongest effort to date; it’s also the first release on Pump House Records.

About Fourward Music:
Fourward Music was founded in 2019 by Will Ward, CEO of Fourward Inc. Under the leadership of president Shannan Hatch, Fourward Music is a publishing and entertainment company formed to partner with songwriters, producers, and artists from multiple genres, with offices in Los Angeles and Nashville.

About Pump House Records:
Pump House Records is a forward-thinking artist development collective offering A&R, promotion, and other label services to its clientele. Launched in Nashville by a creative team that includes three-chart topping songwriters, the label was co-founded by country star Lee Brice, hit songwriter Rob Hatch, engineer/songwriter/producer Elisha Hoffman, and backers Derek and Kristi Hutchins. The Pump House name is a reference to the makeshift recording studio that Lee constructed in a church camp shed during his teenage years, while working as a counselor at a South Carolina church youth camp with childhood friend and lifelong collaborator Nick Norman. Appropriately, Norman’s upcoming 2020 LP will serve as Pump House Records’ first project, featuring production and co-writing contributions from the organization’s three creative heads — Lee, Rob, and Elisha — as well as Nick’s show-stealing vocals, whose songs bring humor, heart, groove, and soulful swagger to the country genre.
