SELF-DOUBT TAKES CONTROL
IN FRETLAND’S NEW SONG “TOO MUCH”
SOPHOMORE ALBUM COULD HAVE LOVED YOU
OUT MARCH 26 VIA SOUNDLY MUSIC
“the pandemic hasn’t stopped them from being prolific”
– American Songwriter
“impressive streaming attention from fans struck by their authenticity and Americana-driven mixed genre elements”
– Americana Highways
“Fresh, raw, and stirring”
– Atwood
“”Fretland’s new song “Too Much” is full of insecurities laid bare”
– The Boot
“There was indeed a wedding in Capitol Hill where I drank too much, danced too much, smoked too much, regretted too much, and punished myself too damn much. A trait I am still trying to remedy. The only inconsistency in the song is that sometimes you can be “too serious” or “not serious enough.” That was deliberate. At the end of the day, if you’re feeling too much of anything you’re just being too hard on yourself. And I personally can “feel” too serious and not serious enough in a matter of hours.”
– Hillary Grace Fretland
Today, FRETLAND shared their song “Too Much,” which premiered exclusively via The Boot earlier this week. “Too Much” follows previously released songs “Could Have Loved You,” which premiered via Kelly McCartney’s Southern Craft Radio on Apple Music, “Do You Think of Me,” which premiered exclusively via Atwood Magazine, and “One More Try.”
Following their debut, self-titled album release in the Spring of 2020, FRETLAND has been able to create a significant global fanbase, thanks to the tangible nature of streaming services. FRETLAND has never had the opportunity to tour outside of their home-base region of the pacific northwest due to Covid-19, yet, they are resonating more than ever with music lovers around the globe.
After a successful multi-week tour across the Pacific Northwest in early 2020, the band was scheduled to head out on an international tour that would bring them across the United States and Europe. Like for so many, those plans changed quickly. FRETLAND ultimately went on to release their debut record without the opportunity to venture much outside of their regional home base. Instead, FRETLAND won the hearts of new fans with their music, and genuine down to earth personalities, eventually nearing a million streams, all without showing face, proving that art will always find a way.
The state of the world and the state of the music industry remains open-ended, and a bit like the Wild West. FRETLAND are pioneers who are on a trip of self-discovery while helping their fanbase and listeners along each of their own self-discovery journeys.
So, cozy up with a nice blanket, a roaring fire, and your favorite whiskey or cider, and settle in with FRETLAND.
