Last night, My Morning Jacket performed “Spinning My Wheels” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The song is the first track on the band’s new album, The Waterfall II, available now at all DSPs.

The Waterfall II will be released on CD and vinyl on August 28. Pre-orders, including both standard and deluxe versions featuring 180-gram vinyl with Zoetrope labels in a gatefold foil jacket, are available now.
The Waterfall II is an unforeseen and timely continuation of a psychic and sonic journey begun long ago. The album was massively inspired by the band’s idyllic surroundings in Stinson Beach, CA — and a sense of charmed isolation that frontman Jim James likened to “living on our own little moon.” There, the Kentucky-bred five-piece ended up creating over two dozen songs at the mountaintop studio known as Panoramic House. Though they flirted with the idea of putting out what would have been a triple album, the band ultimately decided that less would be more at the time and divided the project into two halves, releasing the first segment as The Waterfall: a 2015 full-length that earned the band their third consecutive Best Alternative Rock Album Grammy Award nomination in a row (Evil Urges, Circuital, The Waterfall).
The media response to the The Waterfall II has been stellar as the song “Feel You” is currently the #1 most added at AAA radio.
“Quarantine, it’s hard to find the blessings in it, but one might be that we get to experience work that always deserved our ears, and that we might not have otherwise.” – NPR, Ann Powers
“‘Can tomorrow feel like it did back in the past?’ James asks, once again soaring up into his famous falsetto. He makes it sound like this was his plan all along—to delay the release of these songs until that interim actually meant something and made them sound even better.” – Pitchfork
“It’s a beautiful and unexpected curiosity — existing not as an add-on or in response to The Waterfall, but suggesting that we’re just now getting to hear the whole conversation between two very different yet completely intertwined works.” – Stereogum
“The Waterfall II stands as an equal to its well-loved predecessor, one that moves from the sunny banks at the top of the falls to the deep and bracing waters down below. The torch songs here resist the urge to wallow, counterbalancing their regrets with mature calls for personal growth.” – Consequence of Sound
“This belated follow-up isn’t a continuation of 2014’s The Waterfall sessions created in Stinson Beach California, but rather an extension of them…far too powerful and beautifully crafted to have been left on the cutting room floor.”
– American Songwriter
“Epic.” – UPROXX
“MMJ have always been the full package — a fiery live band but also experts in the studio with an arsenal of great songs — and The Waterfall II proves that, over 20 years into their career, that’s still the case.”
– Brooklyn Vegan
“The Waterfall II, their first new album in five years, is a phenomenally eclectic buffet of everything that’s made them one of the greatest and most enduring American rock bands of the 21st century.” – Guitar World
