This week, Jaime returns to work for the first time since quarantine with the Gävle Symphony in Sweden, where he is the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor! Jaime takes us behind the scenes of their rehearsal at the Gävle Concert Hall as they prepare to perform Beethoven and Stravinsky live without an audience.

NEW MUSIC USA AMPLIFYING VOICES PROGRAM: SHELLEY WASHINGTON

LACO is excited to partner with the New Music USA Amplifying Voices Program, as we lead the co-commission of a new work by composer, saxophonist, and educator, Shelley Washington!

In addition to the 2021/22 season world premiere, our collaboration with Shelley will extend into having conversations and taking initiative
in our commitment to better promote the works of voices in classical music that are often overlooked.

AMERICAN COMPOSERS ORCHESTRA PANEL DISCUSSION

LACO Executive Director Ben Cadwallader and Composer + Artist-Educator Derrick Spiva Jr. are going live for the American Composers Orchestra panel discussion moderated by ACO President Edward Yim. Joining them are Derek Bermel (ACO), Kyu-Young Kim (The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra) and Alecia Lawyer (ROCO). The panelists and their guests will share selected chamber orchestra works their orchestra has commissioned, premiered or championed.
