Directed by award-winning documentarian Leslie WoodheadElla Fitzgerald: Just One Of Those Things is an intimate look at the life and journey of The First Lady Of Jazz. Blending archival footage with anecdotes / ruminations from Smokey RobinsonTony BennettJohnny MathisItzhak Perlman, dancer Norma Miller, the late Andre Previn, and Ella’s son Ray Brown. JrJust One Of Those Things reveals a personal look into Ella’s journey, in life and in music.

A trailblazer for women of color in the music business and beyond, Ella is famously quoted as saying “it isn’t where you came from; it’s where you’re going that counts.” She proved the true meanings of these words, from her life as an orphaned, penniless teenager living on the streets of Harlem, to her big break at amateur night at the Apollo Theater, which skyrocketed her career as a singer, bandleader, and public figure. Her innovative style of scat singing broke new ground in jazz vocalization, along with her interpretations of the Great American Songbook. She would go on to inspire countless singers, musicians, and artists, leaving an extraordinary legacy, as stated by Bob Dylan recently in the New York Times: “Ella Fitzgerald as a singer inspires me.”

Ella Fitzgerald: Just One Of Those Things is presented by over 100 theaters nationwide as a virtual cinema release, as well as several in-house screenings in select theaters, starting June 26. Film tickets are available at https://www.ellafitzgeraldmovie.com/screenings.
