Grants and more grants!
We are thrilled to announce that Artist Series Concerts has been awarded generous grants from the Tourism Development Council (more than $40,000), and the Florida Department of State’s Division of Cultural Affairs (over $25,000 – considerably more than we’ve received in the past)!
We’re smiling right along with classical saxophonist Steven Banks (above). Steven, who is a Young Concert Artists winner, will be part of our upcoming 2020-21 season. And yes, he plays all four of those saxes! See more from Steven below.
Needless to say, at a time when we and many other cultural organizations are facing many unknowns, these funds are most welcome. As is the incredible and encouraging support we have received from supporters and patrons like you! Thanks to you, we’re poised to weather this storm and to keep the (great) music playing!
Thanks again and we hope you will continue to support us.
Steven Banks’ joy of music
As we’ve mentioned previously, Steven Banks is the first saxophonist to make the Young Concert Artists roster in its 59-year history. In addition to being an astounding musician, he is also an Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Ithaca College, and just a genuinely nice guy.
He recently posted this little clip in light of recent events: “I love playing music so so much and no one is taking that from me.”
More “Piano Meditations” from Joseph Holt
We’ve uploaded more of Joe’s almost daily mini-concerts to our YouTube page – short, uplifting and magnificently played. Here’s one of our favorites – the Warsaw Concerto. Play it Joe!
Stay safe, stay cool and have a great weekend!
